Stabbed Nearly 50 Times - Who Killed Michael Gilman?

Police officials say robbery does not appear to be the motive in the unsolved murder of Arizona businessman Michael Gilman, who was found inside his Paradise Valley, AZ, home on April 29, 2014. However, as the years pass, Gilman's murder has left more questions than answers.

Gilman's residence was located in the 5400 block of East Lincoln drive, tucked away inside an affluent gated community in the Colonia Miramonte subdivision.

Gilman, 68, was described by friends to be a world traveler and philanthropist. During the 1990's, Gilman was CEO of United Capital Planners, Inc. in Scottsdale and United Arizona Holdings Corp., both companies no longer operating. Neighbors say Gilman was a private man who spent time in his Phoenix area home and another residence located in Los Angeles. At the time of his death, he was serving as a consultant for Live It Productions International, LLC., a global event production and design company, headquartered in Miami, FL.

Several employees at a bar in Old Town Scottsdale where Gilman was a regular visitor claimed he was often seen at the bar late at night with younger men and had even asked several of the male employees to visit with him at his million-dollar home. Whether a hate crime, robbery or murder with some other personal motive, the murder was savage.

Detectives indicate Gilman had been stabbed approximately 50 times with multiple instruments such as a knife and scissors.

Little details have been made available in the still unsolved murder but police continue to ask the public for help and follow up leads. "We don't want this to become a cold case," said Paradise Valley police officer Kevin Albert.

Police determined at least two individuals entered Gilman's home on the evening of April 28, though a motive for the crime has never been released.

The homicide investigation uncovered video footage of a speed-enforcement camera showing Gilman's vehicle driving north on Scottsdale Road, then turning east at the intersection of 94th Street and Shea Boulevard. Another vehicle believed to be driven by the second suspect can be seen driving what appears to be a maroon colored vehicle, closely following Gilman's vehicle.

Gilman's BMW SUV was later found burning on East Via Linda in North Scottsdale.
