Unsolved Disappearance
Morgan Chauntel Nick, 6, went missing on June 9, 1995, from Alma, Arkansas.
Morgan went to a Little League baseball game with her mother, Colleen Nick. When they got to the park, Morgan went with her friends to catch lightning bugs and was last seen at approximately 10:45 p.m. She had been standing next to her mother's car emptying sand from her shoes, then never seen again.
Witnesses told police that they saw a white male watching Morgan play in the field earlier that night. the man was seen approaching a group of children and asking them a question. Police have never released what was said during the conversation.
The unidentified man may have been driving a red Ford pickup truck with a white camper shell and windows covered by curtains. The truck left the parking lot right around the time Morgan vanished.
Two attempted abductions also happened happened near Alma on June 9 and 10. In one occurrence a suspect resembling the man at the baseball field had attempted to entice a 4 year old girl into his red truck. The child's mother saved her daughter by screaming and interrupting the kidnap attempt. Fifteen miles away, in Fort Smith, a nine year old girl was approached by a man who tried to get her into a bathroom at a convenience store. Police said both attempted abductions were committed by the same man.
In 2021, police named Billy Jack Lincks as a probable suspect in Morgan's abduction. He died in prison in 2000, while serving time for attempted child abduction.
Police impounded Lincks pickup truck. They found hair, trace amounts of blood, but not enough DNA to match any victims. They also found a green-blue cotton fiber in the mat under the seat, and believe it may have come from the Girl Scouts shirt Morgan had been wearing the night she vanished.
Colleen Nick has appeared on hundreds of television and news shows, to include America's Most Wanted. The police and FBI have followed up on thousands of leads, but she has never been found and the investigation ongoing.
