Frederick McLean - Fugitive

 Frederick Cecil McLean,  70, was wanted by the U.S. Marshals for four counts of child molestation, and one count of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14-years old. 

 

McLean was charged in San Diego Superior Court in January 2005. 

 

According to investigators, McLean lures his victims into trusting him then use that trust to manipulate and molest his victims.

One of McLean's victims estimates he molested her over 100 times. The investigation has identified an additional seven victims and fears McLean is searching for more. Investigators believe McLean has preyed upon children for over 20 years.

 

McLean was born February 15, 1951, and described as a white male, 5' 11" height, approximately 130 lbs, with hazel eyes and brown or graying hair. 

 

McLean is described as very intelligent and methodical, planning everything he does to the smallest detail. McLean formerly owned a business restoring old race cars, specializing in CAN-AM race cars from the 1960s and 1970s, especially Lola chassis race cars and may talk about this experience.

 

McLean is a Jehovah's Witness and in the past has preyed upon children he met through various churches.

 

McLean is known to have had at least $100,000 cash with him at the time of his disappearance. He is capable of doing home and auto repair and may be working as a handyman or mechanic.

 

McLean resided in Winchester, Calif.,  and an experienced camper known to have frequented the Anza-Borrego desert and the Cuyamaca Mountains in the San Diego area. 

 

McLean was born February 15, 1951, and described as a white male, 5' 11" height, 170 weight, hazel eyes and brown or graying hair. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

 

Solved: McLean was found dead in his Seneca home on November 6, 2021, in South Carolina. He was going by the name of Jim Fitsgerald.

His neighbors described him as "very nice." They said they had no idea that he was using an alias. 

He was found decomposing inside his home. No foul play is suspected in his death.

Prior to h is death he also lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, and Anderson, South Carolina. Authorities believe more victims may be out there.
