Casey Scott Berry, 25, went missing on February 14, 2007, from Blanca, Colorado.
Casey grew up in central California and attended Reedley High School, where he played sports, including baseball and football. He took classes in forestry, then joined the Youth Conservation Corps, and planted trees in Colorado. He got married, had a child, and lived between San Luis and Alamosa, Colorado, with roommate Duane Kulakofsky and his girlfriend.
Kulakofsky told investigators that he had seen Casey on February 14th at approximately 9:00 a.m. when Casey was leaving to visit a friend in Blanca, Colorado. Kulakofsky claimed the acquaintance Casey was visiting was a Native American man, known as Bob and that Bob always carried a rifle and was very violent.
When Casey failed to return, Kulakofsky went to Bob's home and saw Casey's body and much blood. Bob told him they had been in an argument, and he shot Casey in the head five times. Kulakofsky was then forced by Bob at gunpoint to help him clean up the crime scene and put Casey's body into an old car they set on fire.
Kulakofsky didn't report this incident to the police, but he did tell friends and the rumors spread back to investigators. Police tracked Kulakofsky to the Utah border where they questioned him and his girlfriend. Kulakofsky agreed to help investigators, but once released the couple was never seen again.
Investigators have not been able to identify who "Bob" is or his residence, and not been able to located Casey's body. The investigation is ongoing.
